When too much ‘good’ makes you feel ‘bad’ – banish the bloat!
Reset your body after over-indulging and get back to healthy habits with our bloat-busting remedies.
If you don’t indulge in Easter or Passover delicacies, did you really experience the celebration? Food is a big element of both holidays, something that you likely look forward to all year. While indulging is fun in the moment, it can leave you feeling bloated and groggy for days after. Before hopping back on your diet, reset your body with these bloat-reducing remedies.

1.      Flush Out the Toxins

Eating excessive amounts of salt can leave your body in water retention mode which causes you to bloat. The first step to reset after the holidays is rehydrating and flushing out the toxins. You can do this by eating water-dense fruits and vegetables. Some examples are watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumber, and celery. Even better, start each day with a big glass of lemon water. This isn’t just good for de-bloating but also for overall health.

2.      Take a Shot

…No, not an alcoholic shot. We’re recommending a shot of apple cider vinegar. When you indulge in sugary or salty foods, your digestive system gets irritated and inflamed. The bloat can be accompanied by puffy fingers, bags under your eyes, and gas. Apple cider vinegar is packed full of enzymes that help your digestive system thrive. If taking a shot isn’t for you, add one teaspoon to a glass of water to sip.

Ginger is also great for helping the digestive system to cope with unhealthy foods. It helps reduce gas, bloating, and discomfort. Simply boil a piece of ginger root in water for 10 minutes, then let it cool enough for you to sip.

3.      Go Green

There are tons of health benefits of drinking tea, especially green tea. One of which is reducing bloat and relieving gas. Some of the compounds in green tea help reduce inflammation in the body which eases your digestive tract. After your Easter or Passover celebrations, start drinking three glasses of green tea each day. The bloat will become less uncomfortable and slowly go away. You may also get some of the other benefits of drinking green tea such as improved brain function, disease prevention, and increased fat burning.

4.      Soak in the Tub

Warm baths can be great for relaxing the body and soothing a sore abdomen. To specifically target bloating, add Epsom salts to your bath. Salts have healing properties that can help with everything from depuffing the skin to rejuvenating muscles. They can reduce water retention which decreases bloating. In a warm bath, the salts enter your body through the skin’s pores. After your holiday meals are over, take three Epsom salt baths per week.

5.      Get Back on Track

It’s normal to eat bigger portions during the holidays. Once they’re over, however, it’s important to resume your regular portions. Overeating leads to ongoing bloating and stomach pain. Getting back to your healthy routines after the holidays is key to reducing the bloat and feeling better. Ease back into your workouts with some yoga for a few days. Lastly, give yourself some grace if you can’t snap back to you pre-Easter and pre-Passover habits right away.
